CENTRUL DE STUDII ȘI CERCETĂRI PENTRU DEFORMĂRI PLASTICE

ROBOTS AND MECHATRONICS SYSTEMS

Within the Metal Forming Research Centre are unfolded theoretical and experimental researches upon all kind of equipment for manufacturing processes (cutting, forming, others). Serial and parallel industrial robots are also included within this category. Thus, the laboratory is equipped with six degrees of freedom KUKA KR 210, KUKA KR 6-2 and ABB 1400 serial robots.

By means of the KUKA KR 6-2 industrial robot, a complex multi-functional experimental layout which allows the study of incremental forming process using industrial robots as technological equipment was developed. By using industrial robots as technological equipment for incremental forming, multi-axes trajectories can be generated and, consequently complex shape parts may be manufactured by incremental forming.
Theoretical and experimental researches within the Automation devices and robots laboratory are facilitated by the use of specific software packages, such as: Matlab & SimulinkFluidSIMB&R Automation StudioABB Robot StudioKUKA KRC and Technosoft Easy Motion.

Within this laboratory, are also unfolded the application research activities for the development of multifunctional robotic platforms with which the Cybertech and Powerbot student teams have achieved remarkable results at the national contest RObotX and the international contest EUROBOT.
The laboratory is equipped with various pneumatic and hydraulic actuation systems from the companies FESTO and SMC. One of the experimental and didactic bases of the laboratory (room IM 203) was recently modernized (in 2019) with the financial support of the Continental company. Among the advanced pneumatic systems provided by the laboratory, we can mention the educational modules for training in pneumatics and electropneumatics FESTO TP 101, FESTO TP 102 and FESTO TP 201, as well as the mechatronic training module FESTO MPS 202.
Also, the laboratory has the modular mechatronic system FESTO MecLab, intended for carrying out research on the modularized construction, command and programming of mechatronic systems. Also from the field of advanced mechatronic systems, the laboratory is also endowed with the bi-axial system with stepper electric motors and linear pneumatic motors SMC MAP 202.

Laboratory automation systems are based on the latest generation of programmable logic controllers Siemens SIMATIC S7 1200 (6 pcs.), programmed with the latest version of the software package Siemens TIA Portal v. 15 (6 workstations).
The laboratory equipment also includes the automation systems based on microcontroller boards ATMEL AVRArduino Nano (12 pcs.) and Arduino Mega (12 pcs.).
The laboratory also has equipment for additive manufacturing, most notably the 3D printer Ultimaker 3 Ext., which allows the user to make complex parts from the point of view of the form, with mechanical properties comparable to those made by extractive processing (cutting).
